About the Designer

True-to-you personal style should never mean second-guessing.

From what to eat and what to wear to how to word that email and what to say, our days are packed with micro-to-macro decisions. What to wear shouldn’t add to that mental load.

I’m Jennifer Walters Anstendig, designer and founder of Alysian. I think of Alysian as my “Act III,” founded in 2017 after a first career as a women’s magazine writer/editor, back when fashionista culture reigned, and then years as a private label jewelry designer creating for major national fashion brands.

Why Alysian

After years of predicting, interpreting and executing trends, I wanted to create an elevated-yet-accessible alternative to mass-market sameness and fast fashion, with original pieces designed to make personal style feel more expressive, individual and effortless.

That means original design. Natural stones. Vintage elements. Thoughtful details that go beyond the generic and make it easier to express what feels like you, without all the second-guessing.

Maximum impact. Minimum effort.

And while I’m absolutely guilty of wearing black more often than not, I know jewelry is the best hack for taking a standard look to styled.

Created with comfort and versatility in mind, Alysian pieces are designed to become go-to style staples that deliver an elevated edge without any second-guessing or trying-too-hard energy.

Some jewelry can be as soothing as it is stylish, helping you feel cool and calm. Other pieces, like a bold lipstick, can spark a little extra confidence that leaves you feeling more energized and in control of your day. I hope Alysian becomes a source for pieces you can depend on for exactly that.

Designed for real life

Alysian is designed from my home studio in a 1907 house in a vibrant, arts-forward New Jersey town about 17 miles west of New York City, where stones, chains, vintage finds and works-in-progress are always competing for space. I still bring an editor’s eye to the design process: noticing the small detail that changes the whole composition, knowing when something needs one more element and, just as importantly, when it needs one less.

Real life is part of the design brief, too. I won’t create an earring that’s beautiful but impractically heavy or a necklace that never quite falls right. If I wouldn’t want to wear or use something myself, it doesn’t make the cut.

Whether you’re shopping for yourself or searching for the perfect gift, thanks for being here and supporting independent design. Do reach out if I can offer any guidance.

To the power of personal style (without the overthinking),

Jennifer Walters Anstendig
